How Your Unexpected Passion Can Be a Communication Advantage

You might not know it yet,

but your unusual hobby, talent or passion

can be a big advantage in your communications.

This excerpt from my book

will set your wheels in motion for

what you can do.

FROM RISK FORWARD®:

Ryan Levesque,

CEO of The ASK Method Company,

is an expert in helping business owners

grow their companies.

He also happens to love LEGO.

It totally lights him up,

and it’s a big part of his life with his two sons.

Given that his work

is highly analytical and data based,

I encouraged Ryan to incorporate

LEGO into his messaging as a way

to better communicate his strategies,

distinguish his brand, and have more fun.

Ryan was skeptical at first,

concerned he might not be taken seriously.

Ultimately, though, he took the risk

and ran with the idea…

He came up with a range of applications,

one of which was this analogy:

As with LEGO, where you sometimes

have to take apart what

you’ve made to make something better,

the same is true in business:

sometimes you have to deconstruct

what you’ve built to build something better.

Ryan’s references to LEGO

now show up in his stories, metaphors,

and even conference stage sets.

By fusing together

two seemingly disparate elements

—LEGO and marketing analytics—

Ryan has increased the power

of his messaging and differentiated his brand.

What is your equivalent of LEGO?

What might you do?
